Making Fruit Gel Candles

1. clean the glass jars thoroughly by using of rubbing alcohol to remove any grease or fingerprints on the glass, then let the glass jars dry completely.
2. cut the wick to the size that is required for the candle.
3. melt the gel wax in a double boiler over a medium-low temperature while adding essential oil, dye and fragrance to the hot gel wax and mix it well. (the glass jars may be warmed in the oven at 160 degrees F).
4. after removing the jars from the oven, dip carefully the fruit embeds in the hot melted gel wax.
5. you can arrange the embeds inside the jar in your desired design.
6. get the wick hang down the center of the jar by placing the pencil across the jar.
7. pour the melted gel into the jar and let it cool and solidify, before detaching the wick from the pencil, trim it 1/4 inch above the top of gel.
8. remove excess wax and wipe with a moist cloth (you can do this by placing the jar in a hot water container).
Whatever method you use, you will want to heat the gel to 225 degrees F. It could take up to an hour to melt your wax at 225 F in the oven, so be patient. Use a candy thermometer to gauge your progress, and remember that gel melts slower than paraffin.
As a candle maker, you can add a wide range of colors to create interesting and attractive colors on making fruit gel candles. Good colors for fruit candles include reds, oranges, yellows and greens.
